FJDynamics Introduced Its 3D LiDAR Scanner at InterGEO, BAUMA, and Geospatial World in 2022

2022-12-01

FJD Trion S1 3D LiDAR Scanner made its European debut at InterGEO 2022, the renowned geospatial platform that hosted around 14,000 visitors this year and BAUMA 2022, the construction trade fair that attracted more than 495,000 in seven days. Soon after the in-person events, Geospatial World, an organization that seeks to make a difference in the world economy with geospatial knowledge, invited Team Trion S1 to speak to its audience in a webinar titled “A New Way To Scan The World.”

The Why Behind Trion S1 and the Industrial Attention

According to the Research and Markets Report, the global LiDAR scanning market is projected to reach $2.2 billion at a projected CAGR of 15.4% between 2020 and 2025. The global 3D laser scanner market is anticipated to have an impressive CAGR of 7.8% during the estimation period between 2022 and 2032, with values expected to be $1,587.2 million in 2022 and $3,378.4 million by 2032.

“We saw the impressive market potential, then dived into the construction sector, and found significant needs for modeling, digitalization, measurement, and surveying. We studied industrial pain points and realized that we were missing a product that was high-precision, versatile, powerful, and yet affordable. So the S1 you see now captures points clouds with 320,000 points per second, achieves 0.8-2cm accuracy, mounts on cars, ships, and drones, works with the app and software specially made for it, and comes with pricing that is competitive in its category," says April, product manager of Trion S1.

"What sets Trion S1 apart from competition scanners on the market is that our users can see the point clouds they are getting in real-time with Trion Scan, the app we tailored for the scanner," continues April.

Making a Difference Across Industries

For the last two months since the scanner’s official launch, FJDynamics has been working with professionals beyond construction to enhance their efficiency, data precision, and safety.

Forestry Surveying

Arup, a Hong Kong-based green and low-carbon architectural design company, was challenged to measure and obtain multi-dimensional parameters of forests on slopes to facilitate online foundation planning at a later stage.

With Trion S1, the scanning of a hill of 12,000m2 was completed within 18 minutes.

Pile Measurement

Measuring piles with a total station is time-consuming as it requires a number of measurement points, based on which the surveyor gets an estimated number that is likely to bear a large error.

SOM Surveying Instruments from South Africa utilized Trion S1 to scan a pile with 320,000 points per second and created a digital twin of the target with Trion MetaHub, the post-processing software developed for the scanner.

Mining

Surveyors have to face complex and dangerous environments when measuring a tunnel and are likely to miss key data when measuring one point at a time.

A China-based mining company took Trion S1 underground to obtain the spatial position of a goaf and calculate the headroom volume. With Trion S1, the entire workflow was 8 times more efficient than the conventional method and produced 3D models with a higher sample rate. The device also reduces underground risks by allowing for remote control.

A New Way to Scan the World

A webinar on A New Way to Scan the World was hosted by Geospatial World on November 3rd. The recording introduces the industrial trends, product potential, and system highlights.

With its geospatial commitment, FJDynamics is projecting a future in which professionals of construction and industries beyond can get creative with Trion S1 and realize the potential of geospatial technology. Get connected.
